The first time I laid my eyes upon her
She carried herself with an air of regality.
With every step she took
It resonated around the halls
Swaying me like a hypnosis.
I imagined her as circles.
So whole, so beautiful.
I would catch a glimpse of her.
Then another,
And another.
Never have I experienced such excruciating happiness.
The inordinate longing hurt.
I drew more circles on the dust covered window
Fingers feculent but my love was rounded.
Finally I drew the line
Stopped this obsession with the girl so fine.
I took the hike I never dared to.
I drew a line.
I drew a circle big enough
Big enough for the two of us.
Her hand in mine
As we strolled down the path of time.
The last time I saw her
She was so ghostly pale
As if the drooping sun could leak through her.
I had to free my grip and let her go.
It was her turn to watch the sunset fade.
I sit on my own and stare at the horizon and
It is then I realised
Circles are but a thin line.
A single split
And nothing can patch the inky blackness inside.
